About the tutor
Chris studied at Birmingham School of Art & Design in the early 70s where he gained a BA and MA degree in Fine Art. The strong influence of American abstract painting fused with a more romantic English landscape tradition shaped his work during these formative years. Chris has also woven the Eastern European roots of his Father’s Polish background into his complex cocktail of inspiration. He has developed expertise in many media and techniques, he has combined printmaking and painting techniques as well as having a strong understanding of perspective and formal drawing and painting techniques. Creative exploration and technical control would form the basis of workshops and demonstrations together with contextual and art historical connections. About the workshop Chris' workshop will be based on Abstracted Landscapes with a strong reference to colour choice, using colour to evoke a sense of time and place. What you need to bring to the workshop Participants can work in Acrylic or oil paint with brushes and palette knives. A primed board or canvas is advisable. Chris will also bring along some primed surfaces. and... Something to cover the table and floor Refreshments will be provided. Please bring your own cup or mug. |
