8th April - Robert Dukes - Still Life - Medium of your choice
The day will begin with a general discussion about the history of still-life and how to compose a still-life yourself.
You will be painting individual still-lifes, and are required to bring along your own objects - that could mean objects that have personal associations, or more typical still-life subject matter such as fruit, flowers etc etc.
You should also consider what will be behind the still-life - e.g. coloured cloth etc.
Group discussions and one-to-one tuition will be given throughout the day with an emphasis on colour mixing and understanding tone relationships.
Could you please each bring along a reproduction of a still-life that you admire, could be a postcard, photograph, or in a book.
What to bring:
Canvas, boards, paper, paint, whatever is relevant to your chosen medium.
Your still life objects, cloth, and something to lay it out on.
A cover for the table and no odour turps if you are using oil
Don't Forget........ to bring along the subject matter for your own individual still-life, and also a reproduction of a still-life that you admire
